Back to college/university advise

| On
31 August 2013

Hello smexies!

The most exciting part that is my new semester shall start on next Monday, and the best part is I'm going to become a senior! I still remember the times when I was a freshman, with no clue what so ever what to expect in my semester. After years of studies in my university, I truly have the experience when it comes to surviving in university.

Just kidding. University should be a fun place!

I just want to share my advice to those who will be back to university or starting a new journey at a new learning environment! Here's my several tips to survive in university/college:

1. Do prepare and make a good use of a planner! Honey, this is the 'thing' to keep track all of your activities. Be it having appointment with your lecturer or a society meeting, it helps you to get organized without any mess. When I was a freshman, I did not have an organizer with because I thought it was tedious. Boy I was wrong, I had trouble in arrange my time for my studies and blogging. I started to use planner when I became a sophomore! I was able to organize my time and jot down all important stuff in the planner. It literally saved my grades.

2. Budget! Budget! We got it, you are not a high school student anymore! No more those nasty canteen food, now we can have whatever we want! But hold on... Do get your finances in order! Outside food can be expensive, depending where you are studying. I study at Damansara and there are limited restaurants around my campus (and expensive too). Do plan your budget when you're in university so that you will not live in a pitiful life.

3. Don't act lah! There will be times where we might be confused with our studies. Do not afraid to ask questions. We, Malaysians (too stereotype) have problems in asking questions. Maybe this is because back in primary/secondary school, asking questions = stupid. Some teachers do not let us to ask questions because 1) waste their time 2) maybe they do not know the answers too. This is truly based on my experience as student, not all teachers are like that. Hence, when we are in university, interaction takes place but we just.... diam diam acting sibeh pandai.

4. Rojak together! Meeting new people is fun! Attending Orientation is a great way to start making new friends. Although Orientation might sounds boring but trust me, you will understand what your course is all about. Also, meeting new friends will definitely beneficial in your studies. You can have a mini study discussion with your friends....but unfortunately most of the time it would turn to gossip/social gathering haha! Yes, university can be really fun!

5. Safety first! I'm not saying that university is a dangerous place but in my opinion, everywhere is not safe now! Especially there are many crimes going on around here. Take necessary precautious when you're alone! I purposely bought pepper sprays before the semester starts. Try keeping one pepper spray in your bag and also in your car, just to be extra alerts!

My Back To University must-have!

I hope that this post would help. I found out that some of the contents are terlalu lah, but it is for entertainment purpose. However, you should get the picture! University/College is a great place to meet new people and trying out new things, such as getting an involvement in societies. I'd joined several societies and I'm currently a member of my department student community where we run activities for our students :) Believe me, it is not easy! but I do have an exposure in handling events and meeting corporate and other university representatives.

What else would you advice for those who will be going back to university/college? Leave your suggestion below <3

Review: bloop Candy Lipstick in 309

| On
26 August 2013

Hello smexies!

I'd just received a parcel from HiShop bloop Buddyz Campaign - it was a cute moisturizing lipstick from bloop - Candy Lipstick in 309.

I truly adore the packaging of the candy lipstick, it is sweet and light - just like any candies in stores.  I love the fact that it has this cute 'lipstick' label on the case, it is thoughtful and playful at the same time =) Moreover, it is convenient to bring along in my bag because of the light weight of the product, unlike other lipsticks that are slightly heavier and bulkier.

The colour of bloop Candy Lipstick in 309 is slightly towards maroon, it has this dark shade of pink/red. I didn't think that the colour was that candilicious because of its dark shade. Boy I was wrong for good, the colour was actually pinkish on my lips.

As you can see it from the swatches above, candy lipstick does a pretty good job in pigmentation. Two shades are suitable for natural look but you were like me - the dramatic one, three shades are superb in giving a pair of luscious lips.

Before and after :D
My lips immediately transferred from a pair of dehydrated lips to a hydrated, plump and kissable lips. bloop Candy Lipstick has highly saturated colour that is long lasting and does not fade easily throughout the day.

Will I purchase this product? Although bloop Candy Lipstick is a fairly good quality lipstick, it is slightly expensive compared to drugstores lipsticks. I might be considering in purchasing the lipstick if I'm satisfied with result from bloop Candy Lipstick in a long run.

And Don't Forget The Offer: Buy bloop products on HiShop with an exclusive 20% discount code- BLOOP20! Offer ends on 30 September 2013

What do you think about bloop Candy Lipstick? A Yay or Nay?

HiShop - Making Beauty Accessible

| On
24 August 2013

Hello smexies!

I'm pretty sure that we had a bad experience in online shopping. I do, most of the time! Many online shop provide fake goods which is truly unethical in any business value. Still, many customers fell into the trap without realization. I always refrain myself to purchase mask sheet through online purchase, the sellers normally buy the goods from unknown and trust me, the goods are not sourced from legit suppliers.

Well, HiShop gained my trust and confidence in shopping for beauty products :) I've been participated in HiShop Affiliation Programme for quite some time now, every month I would be receiving a box of beautiful products for reviewing purpose. In this post, I would like to give some feedbacks to HiShop team to keep improving the value of the brand :)

Several loves I got from HiShop

First thing first, I love the layout of HiShop website! It's clean and professional at the same time. I did not experience any confusion while browsing the web. Moreover, there's this temptation going on in me because there are just so many of beauty products (thanks to their bold pictures and banners) to chose from, most of the brands are not available in Malaysia's retail market!

Don't you just love it?
Bold ad design which often caught my eyes
Not only that, I truly appreciate how effective the response from HiShop team in replying emails and social media. They do reply my email promptly with patient and guidance, moreover it's always end with a virtual friendly manner.

There's a sense of togetherness in HiShop Facebook group page for all beauty addicts/ambassadors, it is a place for us to share our opinions/reviews about beauty related stuff. With the previous project at bloop, Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall few months ago, I got to meet new bloggers! ;)

Although HiShop is a great beauty hub, I would love HiShop team to come up with phone app for us to shop on the go! It's quite troublesome to view the website on our mobile phones, I have zoom in and out just to brows through the products. Wouldn't it be better if HiShop can provide a mobile view website :D or even better, an phone app, preferable Anroid haha! Beside that, adding more products from Korea would be a BONUS! I am a big fan of Korean beauty products, they are just so good to use!

One more thing, HiShop: Just don't stop being an awesome beauty hub for all beauty junkies, like me! ;)

Review: Mini Princess Acne Black Mask

| On
23 August 2013

Hey there smexies! I went to MaskSlim this afternoon to get a set of mini PRINCESS Best Buy set, comes with a pc of foot peeling mask, 2 pcs of bubble mask and black mask each for only RM29.90! Awesome deal right? I wanted to get foot peeling mask for my mom and and at the same time, MaskSlim is having promotion till beginning of Sept!

When I got this mini PRINCESS Acne Black mask, I just have to review it. It claims to remove acne and dirt in order to purify the pores. You guessed it right, it is a peel off mask! o.0 and I'm not a BIG fan of peel off mask!!

Why? I will tell you in a minute.

I didn't take any photo of the mask because it's super messy! It comes with black liquid mask and I had to apply all over my face (EXCEPT EYE AREAS). I would prefer it comes with a bottle for an easy application over sachets. Just so you know, I literally painted my toilet sink in black LOL.

It scared my mom, for real!
KEY POINT: DO NOT APPLY OVER THE EYEBROWS.  (which I did)
While waiting for the mask to dry, it was actually quite cool. I did not find any irritation, the mask did tightened my skin and I couldn't open my mouth and talk. An effective mask I would say.

So relax je.
You can see the pores in the mask, it is really disgusting

One tip for all beauties out there - When you're doing peel off, do not apply in over your eyebrows! Peeling off the mask was a difficult task, the mask was ultra sticky and I had a bad time peeling it off!

I literally want to cry, for real!

At last I couldn't tolerate the pain I was dealing with, I washed the mask off with lukewarm water. Although it did not give the same effect as peeling the mask off, I just want to remove all the mask once and for all!

It was really painful! ><

Pros:

  1. It does remove dirt from pores.
  2. Cheap (RM6.90)
  3. It soothed my skin within 10 minutes of application
Cons:
  1. It was just too messy, I would prefer the mask comes in a bottle for easy application.
  2. The stickiness of the mask is unforgiven, I couldn't tolerate the pain!!
Will I repurchase it? Probably not. Not a fan of peel mask. urgh

Have you tried any peel mask before? Was it fun?

Review: Blincon Elegance Aquamarine colour lenses

| On
20 August 2013
Hello smexies!

I've not tried colour lenses before because it's kinda pricey just for occasional purposes. I normally wear my usual contact lenses that are so just plain boring, I somehow wish to purchase colour lenses but then again, my wallet will be crying. sob sob!

But HELLO to my new colour lenses from Glasses Online, where you can get lenses with a fraction of the retail price. I chose Blincon Elegance Aquamarine colour lenses that suits me the most! (I wanted Cutie Violet but le bf said it might looks weird on me ><) .

Blincon Elegance Aquamarine
Diameter : 14mm
Frequency : Quarterly Wear (3 months)
B.C : 8.6mm

This is how the lenses work on me
I had to open my eyes widely so that you can see it clearly! O.O

My verdict
I like the lenses a lot because it does help to enhance my iris and make my eyes look bigger. With its soft lens, it is easy to apply without feeling any irritation. However, after a pretty long hours I felt that my eyes were starting to irritate and redness appeared. Well to be honest, even though I would love to have colour lenses but I do not encourage to wear it for a long hour because it would damage our eyes in a long run, moderate is key.

Well but it's alright to wear it occasionally just like when I was at WEvents last Saturday, I purposely changed my glasses to these colour lenses at the hotel and switched back to nerd mode before leaving the event. Even though it is tedious but it could reduce the damage of my eyes :)

If you're not a fan of Blincon, you can opt for other contact lenses brands such as Acuvue, Air Optix (my fav), Fresh Look, etc in GlassesOnline. Thank you for reading my review and here's an exclusive voucher code for you:

Purchase a minimum of RM100 on GlassesOnline, you can get RM20 off from your purchase (valid till end of August)

Review: Beautymate Venus Series - Polypeptide Collagen Revitalizing Mask

Hello smexies!

Recent years, the facial mask market has been expanding in beauty industry. Even L'Oreal from French is acquiring a Chinese mask manufacturer, Magic Holdings Internation Ltd with $840mil to strengthen presence in Chinese Market.

Not only that, as a customer I could not decide which mask brand I should use because there are just too many to choose from. Usually I would request for samples as I have a sensitive skin, it would be a troublesome if I bought the wrong mask! Thanks to HiShop, their team is so generous to send two sheets of masks from Beautymate, Taiwan.

Beautymate Polypeptide Collagen Revitalizing Mask is best nutrition supplement for reducing the wrinkles caused by dehydration. It penetrates to skin underlying which can regain the moisture lost and increase the moisture level instantaneously.
Suitable For: All skin types, especially dry and sensitive skin

I personally have doubts on the name of the mask because it is just way too long lol, then again I should be not be fooled by the name. The truth is, I would prefer to have a shorter name so that it is easier to remember rather than go alll-the-way to the end.

My verdict:
The mask soothes my skin as usual. After the application, I felt that my skin is smoother and slightly hydrated (it could be the essence of the mask). However, I do not like the material of the mask sheet because it is torned easily - check out my forehead. Moreover, the adhesiveness of the mask is moderate but it kept falling from my forehead (again!)

But based on the price, it is worth the penny especially for students like me! We would love to apply a mask while reading journals cuz it is able to calm myself down with the soothness of the mask. =D

One box of Beautymate mask (10 pcs) retails at RM49.90 in the market. However, HiShop is having a promotion on all beautymate masks up to 20% discount until 31 August 2013!

Just so you know, get RM20 discount upon checking out at HiShop with minimum purchase of RM99  by entering the discount code: TRYUSNOW. *Valid until 31 August 2013*

Summer Parties

| On
11 August 2013

Hello smexies!

Have you thought of traveling to other countries just for the sake of summer music festivals? I wasn't a big fan of music festivals, more specifically rave parties until I met my boyfriend. He started to introduced me to all sorts of techno music, Hardwell and Tiesto are his favourites. Getting familiar with the music was good but he insisted that I should attend to  dance-fests at Sepang because it had a better vibe in live than you know, popping your headphones to your ears. However, I can't just simply go to Sepang and party all night long because I have curfew. #Asianparentsftw

It sucks but I got to go to Swedish House Mafia's at Sunway in the beginning of 2013, I insisted that I should go because 1)It's only at Sunway 2)BEST OPPORTUNITY EVER, DUH! 3) I JUST LOVE SHM AND YOU SHOULD TO. Although the experience was not what I had in mind - note: it was mad packed with peeps and a girl's hair kept 'slapping' onto my face.

Seriously, nobody like to taste your salty hair.

Swedish House Mafia One Last Tour KL

Anyway, have you heard of EDC and Tomorrowland? Those two were the biggest electronic dance festivals in the US and Europe respectively which held in every summer. I am keen to go to Tomorrowland because it's in Belgium which I would love to travel to Europe one day. Moreover, the festival is influenced by the fairtytale theme  - it doesn't make sense to me because I didn't know fairies love rave, shouldn't they prefer to glittery Disney songs? I don't know.

Tomorrowland - Pinterest
Now that I think of it, maybe I could go to Tomorrowland because I can tumpang my friend's bf's crib at Switzerland. :P She sure would love the idea of me crashing into her boyfriend and her's summer. Maybe not that soon... I'm not working yet. After doing some research, it would costs roughly RM5k to RM10k to party for three days straight. Yesh, that is the price of life time experience!

Since I can't go there...yet, why not I gather some inspirational pictures and share it with you? I know many of them would spice up their outfit for the rave party but I'm kinda casual and laid back, I would prefer sneakers and shorts. Thanks to the weather in Malaysia, I think I'm pretty get used to the crowded place with HOT HOT HOT HOT weather. Just imagine walking in a crowded pasar malam, you guess it.

sweats... and it's good for losing your weight too.

That's all for now. I know this post is different than the usual ones, I just want to share the festivals with you.

Now tell me, are you a party animal? Which music festival would you like to attend?
